Chavrias Dam is a large, rockfill type with clay core 56m high dam for the water supply and irrigation of a large part of Chalkidiki Prefecture. The services covered the fields of:

The contract dealt with the phase B of water control study of the municipality of Heracleio and other municipalities in the area which are going to be supplied with water from Aposelemis Dam. Phase “B” focused in the developing of a control system for the better operation of the water network of the total city area and reduce leakage which was estimated to be in the area of 50%. The city of Heracleio has a population that exceeds 305,000 inhabitants.
Services included all strategic and analytical models, maps and GIS information, proposals on a replacement program of old pipes and valves of the network, proposals on leakage detection processes and illegal connections tracking, proposals on network monitoring, etc.

The scope of these studies were the preliminary engineering design of three Hydroelectric Power Projects (HPP), with small, 10 m high dams on rivers Lousios and Alfios, and on river Trikeriotis, in West Greece.
The catchment area of Trikeriotis at Geroborou bridge was 436.20 km². In order to assure a safe operation and guaranteed energy production for the HPP, a “Tyrolean type” water intake was inevitably recommended. The project was designed with partially or totally visible (surface) works (intake structure, settling basin and forebay tank, by-pass channel, power house and draft tubes) and underground works (power tunnel and surge tank and penstock).
The Alfios HPP project is located west of Karytena village and consisted of water intake structures, power tunnel, surge tank, penstock and power station, all of them situated on the left river bank.
The Lousios project powerhouse is located 5,5 km SW of the village of Stemnitsa (Hypsous) along the secondary road from Vytina to Karytena and consisted of water intake structures, power tunnel, surge tank, penstock and power station.

Technical Consultant for the assistance of Ministry of Public Works in the water supply project of Patra includes construction supervision of: 1) An earth fill dam, 77 m high, in river Parapeiros and relevant works (tunnels, spillway, etc.). Reservoir's volume: 40.000.000 m3. 2) The concrete dam for the diversion of river Peiros to river Parapeiros and relevant works. 3) The water supply pipe (steel), 10 km long, 1200 mm diameter and the relevant works (pumping stations, buildings, etc.) 4) Water supply and distribution network, downstream of the dam with 80 km pipe, DN1000 mm diameter to transfer water to the city of Patra (detailed design, tender documentation, supervision of construction).
5) Water treatment plant with a capacity for 22,120 m³/day of drinking water.The dam will be used to supply drinking water at villages and small cities in Achaia Prefecture, including the city of Patra. The Consortium was responsible for the management of the construction of the system for the water supply of the greater area of Patra city (the 3rd largest city in Greece). The contract included the review of all the detailed design submitted by the Contractor. Specifically for the spillway (Q = 1700 m³/sec), a new design was executed by the Consultant. The scope of the Contract included also the on site supervision. A team of five on site engineers, geotechnical engineers and geologists was provided by the Consultant for all the duration of the construction.

The following criteria were assessed: (a) the surface of the dam's lake, (b) the emerging hydraulic drop between abstraction and station, (c) the length of the pipeline transportation, (d) the installed capacity and produced energy, (e) the construction cost and (f) the environmental commitments. Eight (8) locations were identified which met the above criteria.All sites have been examined both with desk and field work and a feasibility study report was submitted to the Client.

Basic aim of the project/study is the creation of a single organism in Nicosia, Limasol and Larnaca which will provide the services of water supply and sewerage in the wider urban regions. The main objectives of the study included: 1) Study and analysis of: the structural and managerial status of each Council , the financial position/information and financial management of each Council, Human Resources issues , the existing organizational frame and labor regulations and procedures that are in effect and are applied, in each one of the six Councils, the legal framework governing each Council, the existing technical operation of each Council, 2) Preparation of proposals and reports concerning: the financial management , the organization structure , the new institutional frame and operation regulations, the final preliminary draft of the new legal framework , the technical operation of the unified Councils, the reconcilement to the technical and environmental requirements 3) Preparation of feasibility study for the estimation of profits/advantages/disadvantages 4) Examination of technical issues, human resources issues, financial issues and, finally, preparation of a draft law for the unification of the Councils as well as draft regulations for the operation of the new organizations.

Eressos - Antissa Municipality is located in Lesvos Island, North Aegean Sea. The project concerned the construction supervision of water supply and distribution networks of eleven (11) villages of the Eressos - Antissa Municipality, along with the sewerage networks. Also it involved the study of six (6) waste-water treatment plants with the disposal pipelines. Since September 2005, Z&A acted as the Technical Consultant for Construction Supervision of this project. Project activities included: (a) Supervision of construction works on site, (b) Implementation of the project, (c) Technical Assistance to local Services on design, construction and financing issues, (d) Supervision of finance procedures from European Commission and (e) Technical Assistance on Contractor's claims.
The water supply transmission and distribution network was consisted of HDPE (3rd generation) pipes DN500 of approximate 64,230 m. The sewerage network was designed as HDPE (3rd generation) network of approximate 35,375 m pipes DN110 – DN250. The six (6) wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) were designed to serve approximate 8,600 PE.

Eressos - Antissa Municipality is located in Lesvos Island, North Aegean Sea. This study was commissioned by the construction J/V of the Metsovitikos HEP in order to support a legal insurance claim after suffering damages on the J/V worksite and equipment following a flood event on Metsovitikos River on 1.12.2005. The study estimated the magnitude of the flood event and its frequency, based on available data. The flood peak rate was estimated with the slope-area method after surveying suitable cross-sections of the affected river reach. Local hydrometry data collected at the Meg. Peristeri gauging station was used in the assessment. The flood peak rate was determined to be 265 m³/s and the flood event return period as 25 – 30 years. The theoretical 20-yr flood event was calculated using soil cover and land use data on the catchment and via modeling with the SCS method. The storm design depth was adopted from the IDF relationship of the nearby Mik. Peristeri station. The calculation showed that even assuming very conservative values for the modeling parameters, the theoretical 20-yr flood event peak rate was lower than the estimated at-site, exceeding the limit which the client was insured against.

The project included the following: (a) selection of important streams to be included in the management plan, (b) appropriate mapping of relevant catchments, (c) description of the necessary studies for each stream (flood plain, hydraulic studies, etc). Registration of flood protection works or/and settlement in obstructing of streams and (d) proposals on necessary land use changes to achieve the flood protection goals. The projects that were supervised by Z&A were the following:1. “Stabilization of natural slopes and arrangement of river bed of Pamisos stream in Mouzaki Municipality, Karditsa Perfecture”, 2. “Arrangement works on Saint George stream of Dramiziotis river in Trikala Prefecture” 3. “Recreation and environmental protection of Dipotamia river in Kastoria Prefecture” 4. “Arrangement works on Baggo stream of Anthiriotis river in Karditsa Prefecture” 5. “Flood protection works on river Asopos in East Attica Prefecture”.

Soil loss using RUSLE from the Kotychi basin was estimated using GIS software resulting in a spatial representation which enabled targeting of particular streams and areas of high contribution to the lagoon's sedimentation problem. The targeting of areas informed the design of specific hydraulic works to allow the diversion of freshwater into the lagoon during low flows while at the same time diverting away sediment-laden floodwaters during the rainy season. This arrangement helps in the management of the lagoon's salinity levels and at the same time provides relief from excessive sedimentation.

The main objective was to protect the lagoon from sedimentation. Soil loss using RUSLE from the Kotychi basin was estimated using GIS software resulting in a spatial representation defining areas of high contribution to the lagoon's sedimentation problem. Specific hydraulic works were designed to allow the diversion of freshwater into the lagoon during low flows while at the same time diverting away sediment-laden floodwaters during the rainy season.
